REAL ESTATE UPDATE

The month of May saw an increase of property sales in the Whistler market, with a total of 85 transactions (63 of which were detached homes). The dollar volume for Whistler in May is the highest we have seen yet this year, sitting just over $92 Million. Property sales in Pemberton saw a decrease in the number of transactions done in May (10), but the dollar volume for condos and chalets both saw a significant increase. Squamish real estate is still going strong, with the number of transactions steadily rising this year and sitting at 86 for the month of May. The dollar volume for the month was just over $58 Million – only a slight decline from what it was in April, and still significantly higher than the trends of the first quarter. Canada’s First Pod Hotel to Open in Whistler:
The building that will house the Pangea Pod Hotel used to be a timeshare complex that fell into serious disrepair. It took the developer a year-and-a-half to track down each of the 1,200 timeshare investors and buy them out. All told, the project is expected to cost around $10 million. Read more here.
